I recently had the privilege of embarking on the Galapagos Cormorant II. This magnificent mega catamaran genuinely lives up to its name. With spacious cabins and multiple social areas, it was a remarkable experience from beginning to end.

As I stepped onto the Cormorant II from Columbus Travel, a sense of awe swept over me. The sheer grandeur of the mega-catamaran, the largest catamaran in the Galapagos, promised a journey unlike any other. If I had to choose a favorite spot onboard the Galapagos Cormorant II, the briefing room captured my heart. With its panoramic view of the islands and comfortable seating, it was the perfect place to admire the beauty of the Galapagos Islands while enjoying the comfort of excellent climate control—especially during the warm months from November to June.

The spacious cabins provided a private sanctuary where I could truly relax. With a private balcony and a bathroom worthy of a 5-star hotel, I often forgot that I was sailing through such remote locations in the Galapagos Islands.

Highlights of the Trip on a Catamaran in the Galapagos

One aspect that truly caught my attention was the onboard connectivity. Despite the need to stay connected for work purposes during my five-day journey, the onboard internet surpassed my expectations. I conducted Zoom calls with clients and partners without any inconvenience, and the clarity of the video even surprised my partner, Santiago.

The culinary experience onboard was delightful, with light and fresh meals reminiscent of home-cooked dishes. Lunch on the Catamaran in the Galapagos was typically served buffet-style. At the same time, dinner was elegantly presented, often featuring a seafood-based main course such as the exquisite surf and turf.

My package included beverages, and after long activities, the crew welcomed us with a light snack and a refreshing drink, which was especially appreciated during the hot weather.

Our guide, James, was excellent. He provided precise and concise information without overwhelming technical jargon. I am genuinely grateful to the entire crew, from the Cruise Manager, Eliana, to the first and second mates, Vinicio and Geovany, who are true ambassadors of the natural wonder of the Galapagos Islands.

Unforgettable Wildlife Encounters and Camaraderie

During my 5-day, 4-night voyage on this catamaran in the Galapagos, I had the incredible opportunity to witness penguins, sea lions, blue-footed and Nazca boobies, sea turtles, marine and land iguanas, sharks, large schools of tropical fish, and an array of captivating bird species, including the mesmerizing pink flamingos.

If asked whether I would embark on the Cormorant II again, my answer would undoubtedly be yes. It was a unique experience that has left me deeply moved. I already miss the amazing people I met aboard, including Anne from North Carolina, Joe and Cathy from New York, Johnny from Virginia, and many others—14 individuals who have become friends following our intimate experience aboard this Galapagos Cormorant II Catamaran.
